Individual Therapy

We aim to make you feel at home as soon as you enter the center, welcoming you with our on-site therapy dogs. Our philosophy for treatment is the three C’s: client centered care.

We find out what your unique needs and concerns are and tailor treatment to you. Not all types of therapeutic interventions will work for every client, it is up to us to alter our approach as needed to give you the best results.

Individual therapy is commonly referred to as counseling, psychotherapy, and talk therapy. Therapy is used to treat mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship struggles, career stress, coping with transitions, identity development, sex and sexuality, and adjustment through life transitions. Therapy is a journey and we are here to help guide you through tears, lots of laughter, and the development of profound insight.

The most important part of therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. We will be glad to assist you in finding who the most appropriate therapist is for your individual needs.  It is vital to your treatment to work with a therapist that you feel comfortable with, confident in their abilities, and feel you can trust and open up to.

Entering therapy for your first time can be daunting and anxiety provoking, so we feel it is important to provide some expectations of what will happen during your first session.

After reviewing confidentiality, the therapist will explore a variety of areas of your life including the following: what brought you into therapy, what mental health symptoms you may be experiencing, and also taking a full bio-psychosocial history. This will cover your childhood, family relations and dynamics, romantic and sexual history, therapy history, medical history, educational and vocational history, possible experiences of traumatic events, and a variety of other life experiences. Together the client and therapist will establish therapeutic goals.
