Beverly A. Torruella, MA,

Beverly A. Torruella, MA, is a doctoral extern at Capital Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness and is currently completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School in Washington, D.C., where she earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology.

Her interest in psychology was shaped by her lived experiences, clinical didactics, and over a decade of military service and leadership. Beverly is deeply interested in the resilience of people and the many factors that influence how we adapt, grow, heal, and find meaning throughout life. This perspective continues to inform Beverly's client-centered, culturally responsive, and

evidence-based approach to therapy.

Beverly works with teens, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, grief, burnout, stress, trauma, self-esteem and confidence concerns, identity exploration, relationship and interpersonal difficulties, and major life transitions. She is especially passionate about supporting veterans, creatives, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds and historically underserved communities. She is particularly drawn to working with those who often feel pressure to “hold it all together” while carrying more than others may realize.

In addition to psychotherapy, Beverly has experience conducting psychological assessments with children, adolescents, and adults.

Wellness

My Philosophy

Beverly believes therapy should feel empowering, safe, genuine, and collaborative. Her goal is to help clients feel seen, supported, and more connected to what matters most.

She approaches therapy with curiosity, compassion, and respect for each person's unique experiences, values, goals, and strengths. Beverly strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring challenges, building on their strengths, and growing in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Outside of therapy, Beverly enjoys exploring the arts, music, dance, spending time in nature, and practicing sound bowl meditation. She is especially interested in the intersection of psychology, health, culture, and community and enjoys creating intentional spaces and conversations that foster reflection, creativity, connection, and joy.
