Luis Ocampo

I’m Luis Ocampo, a third-year doctoral student at The Chicago School. My journey started with a bachelor’s in psychology from American Military University in 2020, followed by a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. I’m also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Washington, D.C.

My passion for helping others grew through volunteer work in churches, supporting underserved communities, low-income families, and individuals battling addiction. Today, I work with people facing challenges like PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, social anxiety, attachment issues, and relationship concerns. In addition to individual therapy, I provide couples counseling to help partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and navigate life’s challenges together.

I believe therapy is a journey we take together. You’re in the driver’s seat—I’m here as your GPS, guiding and rerouting when needed. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and accepted. I offer services in English and Spanish, because everyone deserves care in the language, they feel most comfortable.

My Philosophy

I view therapy as a sacred space where you can share your story without fear of judgment or discrimination—a place to reconnect with your authentic self and heal the wounds life may have left behind. In this space, you’re in the driver’s seat, guiding the journey at your own pace and direction. As your co-pilot, I’m here to support, encourage, and help you navigate. Together, we’ll take an integrative approach: exploring early experiences, untangling the threads of past and current relationships, building awareness through mindfulness, developing coping skills for managing overwhelming emotions, and discovering new ways of thinking about yourself. I’d be truly honored to walk alongside you on this journey. It may be uncomfortable at times, but every step is meaningful—and absolutely worth it.
